Gleeson Homes welcomed Ann O’Byrne, Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for housing & community safety, to their Cawdor Park development on Ponsonby Street in Granby where the Councillor officially opened the show home area.

The Bury based housebuilder is regenerating this former wasteland into 65 brand new 2 & 3 bedroom homes priced to suit local buyers with Gleeson offering a range of purchase enabling schemes, including the government’s FirstBuy, to further enhance affordability.  The construction of the new homes for private sale is just part on the on-going regeneration of Granby under the city council’s housing renewal project.

Linda Matura, Sales Manager for Gleeson Homes explains, “Prices of our homes at Cawdor Park start from £75,196 with FirstBuy.  When purchasing a home with the FirstBuy scheme a family or couple need a joint income of just £21,000 to buy a 2 bedroom home with a weekly mortgage payment of £90, which is cheaper than the local rental rate”.

Under the FirstBuy scheme the government and Gleeson will jointly provide a 20% loan to top up the first time buyer’s own 5% deposit.  This will allow them to take out a mortgage for 75% of the property price in turn lowering mortgage repayments.  The 20% loan is interest free for 5 years and lasts for the term of the mortgage.
