Kath and Lauren Rowe had cause for a double celebration in January this year when they both moved into their own new Gleeson Homes.
When Lauren, a 25 year old Neonatal Nurse from Hartlepool decided it was time to flee the nest, she rented a small, one bedroom flat in Sunderland. Lauren soon realised that the flat was expensive, too small and she had to leave her pet dog at the family home. After seeing the new Gleeson Homes development at Highfield Park in Sunderland, Lauren decided to look around the show homes.
That’s when Lauren found her perfect home! Thanks to Gleeson’s Help to Buy scheme, Lauren was able to escape the rent trap and become a new home owner.
Lauren explains “I never dreamed I would be able to own my own home at just 25. My new house is double the size of the flat I rented previously and the mortgage repayments are so much less!”
Whilst Lauren was arranging the move to her new home, Kath, Laurens 61 year old mother, also a nurse at Hartlepool Hospital, was still living in their large family 4 bedroom house in Hartlepool. After a change in family circumstances, and after seeing the value for money on offer in a Gleeson home, Kath also decided to buy a new detached three bedroom property at Highfield Park.
Kath adds “I wasn’t planning on moving house but then I found the perfect home, in the right location at the right price. It’s great to be closer to family and friends in Sunderland, I now have just a 15 minute drive to work and I am only a few houses away from Lauren. The team at Gleeson helped me through the process from start to finish and made buying my Gleeson Home a positive experience.”
2,3 and 4 bedroom homes at Highfield Park currently start at £143,995 with the Help to Buy scheme available on all homes.
