Mayor Opens New Show Homes At £6 Million Development in Church

Senior Councillors, including the Mayor of Hyndburn, have welcomed the construction of 48 new homes in Church after attending the opening of two new show homes in the village.

Greater Manchester-based house builder Gleeson welcomed the Mayor, Councillor June Harrison, and her Mayoress, Councillor Joyce Plummer, to the official opening at its £6m St James Court development on Kirk Road.  Alongside Leader of the Council, Councillor Miles Parkinson OBE, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Regeneration and Church Ward Councillor, Loraine Cox, and Church Ward Councillor, Jean Battle, the party enjoyed a guided tour of the site, which was formerly home to the Duckworth weaving mill, before cutting the ribbon and venturing into the show homes.

St James Court first opened last December and will consist of 48 new 2, 3 & 4 bedroom semi and detached homes. With views of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and Pendle Hill, the development has proven massively popular with first-time buyers who have taken advantage of HM Government’s Help to Buy Scheme.

The Portfolio Holder for Housing and Regeneration, Councillor Loraine Cox, commented on the development, “I am very impressed with the St James Court development in Church. Gleeson are building homes at affordable prices, allowing working couples and families to get onto the property ladder. I was also very pleased to hear that Gleeson homes cannot be purchased by investors, meaning developments, such as St James Court, truly benefit the community”.

Gleeson Operations Director John Mooney said, “Buyers are often surprised at just how affordable our homes are. For instance, prices at St James Court start at just £105,995 for a two-bedroom semi-detached home. Not only is St James Court close to the M65 and Church & Oswaldtwistle train station for those commuting into work, it is also within easy reach of many local amenities, which is often overlooked by other house builders”.

Recently voted the most sustainable company in the UK due to its use of environmentally friendly materials, such as gravel on driveways, Gleeson also implements its Community Matters programme on all its developments throughout the North of England, dedicating itself to making a difference in the community.  The company aims to provide job opportunities for local people and subcontractors as well as offering apprenticeship schemes and providing sponsorship for local junior sports teams.

Gleeson’s Sales Office at St James Court is open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm.
