Gleeson Homes was joined by the Mayor of Barrow, Councillor Bill McEwan and his wife Judith McEwan to launch the development of 58 brand new 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, with prices starting from £95,995.
Councillor McEwan joined Gleeson’s Area Manager Andy Patmore and Sales Manager Adrian Hilton to mark the start of construction of the new homes by laying a brick on one of the first plots at Sutherland Court, a new £7 million project in Barrow.
Adrian explains, “We’re proud to be able to provide housing to those who don’t always believe they can afford it. All our homes include front and rear gardens, plus parking and often, monthly mortgage payments are cheaper than rent. With Help to Buy available on all homes, our customers are often surprised at what they can afford.
On visiting the site Councillor McEwan commented, “It is a really big positive that this is finally getting started. The affordable homes will be a big help for young people and first-time buyers in the area to get on the property ladder, and with all those houses that we were there before going it will be something that brings the community back around there."
MJ Gleeson has been voted the most sustainable company in the UK due to the housebuilder’s use of environmentally friendly materials such as gravel driveways, commitment to Living Wage and working closely with local communities in which they build through their Community Matters scheme.
Andy Patmore, Area Manager at Gleeson Homes explains, “Not only are we proud to be able to provide opportunity for local people to get out of the rent trap and own their own home, we are dedicated to making a difference in the community by providing local jobs for local people, apprenticeship schemes and local sports team sponsorship to name but a few.”
If you have a junior sports team in need of sponsorship or would like further details on the Apprenticeship Scheme, Gleeson would like to hear from you.
Gleeson’s Sales Office at Sutherland Court is open Thursday to Monday from 10am until 5pm.
