West Lancashire Borough Council has approved plans for 211 new homes to be built on three sites across Skelmersdale. The decision allows Gleeson to transform the disused pieces of land into new communities of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom semi and detached homes starting from £94,995 and will be priced to suit local first time buyers.
St Helens based Gleeson Homes have been given the green light to build 104 homes on Birch Green Road which was cleared of housing over 30 years ago. They will also build 72 homes on Digmoor Road, replacing the former Skelmersdale Sports Centre which was closed down and demolished in 2013. The final site of 35 homes on Northway was approved by the council paving the way for Gleeson to provide much needed housing in the area.
Regional Director for Gleeson Homes, Paul Oldridge commented, “We sell over 90% of our homes to first time buyers, most of who were renting. Mortgages on our homes can start from as little as £52 per week and we are now delighted that we will soon be able to get young people in Skelmersdale onto the property ladder.”
As well as bringing new homes to the area, Gleeson will roll out their Community Matters Programme and are now looking for a local junior sports teams to sponsor as part of their Sports Foundation plus applications from local young people who are interested in the Gleeson Apprenticeship Scheme.
