Gleeson attends opening of new NHBC Training Hub in Cambridge
On Thursday 25th April 2024, Gleeson colleagues were pleased to attend the opening of the highly anticipated new NHBC (National House Building Council) Training Hub in Cambridge, UK. HRH The Princess Royal was in attendance to mark the occasion and unveil the official plaque.
The NHBC Training Hub is a purpose-built facility intended for use by those looking to start a career in housebuilding. Equipped with a bespoke designed classroom, set up as a true to life building site, as well as welfare and catering facilities, the facility has been created by the NHBC to offer a realistic working environment for apprentices.
Gleeson is proud to work collaboratively with the NHBC on an ongoing basis across its business operations, with its most recent cohort of Bricklaying apprentices utilising the NHBC training facility located in Hull since it opened in late 2023.
Gleeson’s cohort of apprentice bricklayers, which were welcomed in October 2023, spent their first five weeks learning core skills at the hub before returning to site to put what they have learnt into practice. The new facility, which offers training all year round, will enable learners to be qualified in as little as 14 months, delivering the next generation of skilled house builders.
Wayne Sutton, Regional Managing Director for the East Yorkshire region, Sharon Jarvis, Learning and Development and Alice Best, Head of Organisational Development, all attended the event on behalf of Gleeson, alongside other leading housebuilders from across the industry.
